    The Humanity of Migrants and Immigrants - How do we respond in these times?

    Linda will share some of her experiences with migrant farmworkers in Wake County and immigrants at the Texas/Mexico Border.  And, she invites you to share your stories as we prepare to respond to the announced mass deportation plans of the President-elect.

  • Mindfulness in the Museum Series: February 19 from 11am-12pm at Gregg Museum Main Lobby (1903 Hillsborough St., Raleigh)

    The Mindfulness in the Museum series offers a place for attendees to experience relaxation, cultivate community, and enjoy the beauty of art. For this session of the series, a YMCA instructor will lead a yoga class at the Gregg Museum. Bring a yoga mat, water bottle, and dress comfortably. This monthly event is open to students and the general public.

  • Feeding Tomorrow -- Movie Screening and Dinner: Feburary 19 at 5:30 pm at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church (2209 Fairview Road, Raleigh)

    You are invited to attend this movie screening, a compelling film that addresses our broken food system. You will be introduced to a brave group of visionary leaders in agriculture, healthcare, and education who are working to build a more just, regenerative, and resilient system in their local communities. The movie will be followed by a panel discussion led by farmers from RAFI-USA’s Farmers of Color Network and Jarred White, Farm and Faith Partnerships Project Manager.

  • Economy for All 2025: February 20 at 5 pm at ReCity Network (112 Broadway St., Durham)

    Start 2025 with purpose and momentum — join us at our annual event to help set the tone for the work ahead.

    At such a critical time in our state and nation's history, we have a unique opportunity to gather with other advocates and community members in the fight for economic freedom for all.

    To kick off the event, Aisha Nyandoro will be joining us with a fresh, experienced perspective on advancing economic justice for all.

  • Habitat Wake: Spring Beloved Build Organizational Meeting: February 27 at 12 pm ET Online

    2025 will be a year-long celebration of Habitat for Humanity Wake’s 40th anniversary. As the faith community has done since our founding, we invite you to celebrate with us by continuing to Build the Beloved Community! And we will do that together with our hands and our voices! This 40th anniversary building campaign gives you the opportunity to build and advocate beside even more diverse faith traditions.

    This virtual meeting will bring together eight faith coalitions that typically build in the spring. We will talk about a wide variety of construction projects. as well as some important advocacy efforts with which we need your help. And there’s also some fun on the horizon! This year, we ask that you come to this meeting with your desired workdays, rather than being assigned workdays.

  • Alliance of Baptists: Black History Month Teach-In: February 27, 7 pm ET on Zoom

    As people of faith, we cannot be silent. We must continue the holy work of truth-telling, reparative justice, and radical love. Because Black history is American history. Black history is sacred history. Black history is now.

  • Better Together 4 NC Meeting: February 27 from 6:30-8 pm at Community United Church of Christ (814 Dixie Trail, Raleigh)

    Better Together 4 NC Meeting is a local race relations group. Join this meeting to hear Wake County Sheriff Willie Rowe discuss the Sheriff’s Office initiatives for 2025 -- including engaging communities to increase trust with law enforcement, and using new technology to improve operations and law enforcement accountability. This meeting was rescheduled from January due to inclement weather.

  • Queer Public History: At the Intersection of Memory and Space: February 28 from 9:30 am-4:30 pm at Park Shops (101 Current Dr., Raleigh)

    The Master of Arts in Public History program will host a day-long symposium -- featuring panels by students, scholars and community-based historians who work in the field of queer public history. These sessions will explore how queer theory, life experience and memory (re)shapes historical spaces and offers unique intellectual interventions in the field of public history.

  • Photographing Your Artwork: February 28 from 3-4:30pm in the Gregg Museum Sunroom (1903 Hillsborough St., Raleigh)

    The Gregg Museum is hosting a photography workshop for NC students in partnership with the Arts NC State Student Art Sale. Learn how to take professional images of your artwork for the upcoming student art sale. Attendees will also have an opportunity to photograph their artwork during the session and receive feedback. Spots are limited, so sign up early.

  • NC Shape-Note Singers-Singing Convention: March 8 from 9:30 am=3:30 pm in the Chapel

    Pullenites and the Raleigh/Wake community are invited to the NC Shape-Note Singers annual singing convention, an all-day "sing in." Registration will start at 9:30 am and singing begins at 10:00 am. The singing will pause for a potluck lunch, then resume for an afternoon session until about 3:30.

  • 2025 Alliance of Baptists Annual Gathering: March 28-30, Riverside DC Baptist Church (699 Maine Ave SW, Washington, DC)

    This year’s theme for the Annual Gathering is "I Met God and She's a Black Woman." It focuses on womanism and traditions of resistance, featuring keynote speaker Rev. Dr. Wil Gafney and special guest Dr. Christena Cleveland. Registration is open for both in-person and virtual attendance.      If you are a chaplain (endorsed by the Alliance or not), we invite you to join us for the Endorsement Retreat on March 27. The theme is "Healing and Care in a World of Trauma: A Womanist Ethic of Healing with Emphasis on Embodiment" -- focusing on community building, self-care, and support, and featuring programming led by Alliance-endorsed members Lauri Swann and Amy Canosa.   • State Lobby Day on April 9

    We are collaborating with Habitat NC and the NC Housing Coalition to plan a Lobby Day at the state legislature. April 8th and 10th we are engaging with our local legislators for Local Lobby Day(s). The events will include opportunities to speak with your elected officials in person on the importance of funding for affordable housing in your community. Please RSVP to let us know your availability for those dates. Before the event, we will have a Day of Action where we will contact legislators by phone or email and ask them for their support (talking points will be provided). We will also have a required prep session beforehand to cover what to expect and answer any questions.

    The North Carolina Council of Churches invites you to join us for a series of Legislative Seminars across the state in 2025. Whether you're new to policy advocacy or have years of experience, each event offers a unique opportunity to engage with the critical discussions shaping North Carolina during the 2025 General Assembly. Together, we’ll reflect on policy through the lens of faith, reframing conversations to inspire meaningful change.

    This biennial series is designed to inform people of faith about crucial issues on the General Assembly's agenda and broader public policy changes in our state. Each seminar will feature unique speakers, discussions, and insights tailored to the region, equipping attendees with the tools to faithfully consider the policy matters affecting our lives and communities.

  • Attention Knitters and Crocheters: Transitions Lifecare Hospice Home Volunteers Needed!

    At Transitions Lifecare Hospice Home, we like to greet each new patient with a handmade blanket as a warm and welcoming touch. It's also a lovely and meaningful thing for the family to hold onto after their loved one passes.

    We prefer 32x32 inches or 48x48 inches, but will take whatever your fingers can crank out! Simplicity is preferred, but feel free to be as creative as you need to be. They do need to be machine washable.

  • Habitat for Humanity Specialty License Plates

    Want your very own Habitat license plate? North Carolina drivers will soon be able to show their pride as a Habitat volunteer, donor or advocate with a custom Habitat for Humanity license plate!

    The state requires 500 registrations in order to print the first run of custom plates. Habitat will cover the initial fee for the first 500 North Carolina drivers who sign up for a custom Habitat for Humanity license plate. After the first 500 submissions, plates will still be available for $30 each.

  • Camden Street Community Compost Drop-off

    In an effort to preserve our landfill and to reduce demand for more landfills in our community, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and Toward Zero Waste have partnered to pilot a free compost drop-off program for community members in the immediate area of the Camden Street Learning Garden. Here your food scraps can be collected, diverted from the landfill, and turned into rich compost that supports the community garden.
